This Antique Ikebana Vase features the unique motif of realistically rendered crabs and ornate details. With these crustaceans and the warm bronze patina, we can feel connected to the seaside and tall ships. Collector's Notes:
A bronze “Usubata” (small opening with a wide, rimmed lip) ikebana vase with applied crab motif, by Yoshimasa (Japanese, ca. 1900). Bronze crabs applied to bronze vase in relief. Applied patina. Floral tray is removable and has a flower frog inserted in bottom. Artist’s mark is impressed onto underside of vase.
Condition: Excellent condition
Less than expected wear for age. Some minor scratches/scuffs in accordance with age and use. One visible white accretion on inside of vase from an old piece of tape, some old stickers remain on underside of floral tray.
